It originated in the late 19th century, with iconic events like Shelsley Walsh in the UK and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the USA. ​This site has now been created to promote and encourage hillclimbing at every level — from first-time competitors to championship contenders. It’s here to celebrate the drivers, the cars, the history and the future of this extraordinary sport.

But hillclimbing is powered by more than just engines.​  It depends on the dedication of incredible volunteers — marshals, course stewards, officials and countless helpers who give their time so events can safely take place. No race could happen without them, and their commitment is the backbone of the sport. The hillclimbing community is welcoming, passionate and fiercely supportive. It’s one of the friendliest paddocks in motorsport — and that spirit is part of what makes hillclimbing so special.

It’s also vital to recognise the significance of the British Hillclimb Championship (BHC), the pinnacle of the sport in the UK. The Championship showcases the very best of British hillclimbing and continues to inspire competitors and fans year after year.
