Gurston Down opened as a speed hillclimb venue in 1967 and has since become one of the most popular venues in the UK. Competitors are attracted by the unique challenges that it offers. Despite the tight and steep uphill section of Karousel in the middle of the course, Gurston Down is fast… very fast! The course record time of 25.37 seconds represents an average speed of over 85mph, and the fastest recorded speed over the narrow finish line is an incredible 159 mph.
